Black Friday 2026 Sale Calendar: What Retailers Have Confirmed
Picture a parent at the kitchen table on a weeknight in late October, laptop open, a gaming console sitting in an online cart at full price.
A banner says “early Black Friday.” A friend says to wait. The kids’ list is taped to the fridge, and the budget is not getting bigger.
Buy now or hold out? The honest answer starts with knowing which sale dates are actually on the calendar, and which ones are still guesses.
Quick answer
Black Friday 2026 is Friday, Nov. 27, the day after Thanksgiving on Nov. 26, and Cyber Monday is Nov. 30. As of Oct. 17, Walmart, Target, Best Buy and Amazon had not published full 2026 Black Friday schedules. In 2025, their main deal weeks started between Nov. 20 and Nov. 25, so watch for official dates.

When is Black Friday 2026?
Black Friday 2026 is Friday, Nov. 27, the day after Thanksgiving on Thursday, Nov. 26. Best Buy’s own Black Friday page tells shoppers to put Nov. 27 on the calendar for its Black Friday 2026 sale.
Cyber Monday follows on Monday, Nov. 30. The five days from Thanksgiving through Cyber Monday are what Adobe calls the Cyber 5.
| Day | Date |
|---|---|
| Thanksgiving | Thursday, Nov. 26, 2026 |
| Black Friday | Friday, Nov. 27, 2026 |
| Cyber Monday | Monday, Nov. 30, 2026 |
Adobe’s 2026 holiday forecast, as reported by Digital Commerce 360, expects Cyber Monday to bring in $15.1 billion in U.S. online sales, up 6.2%, which would make it the biggest online shopping day of the season. Adobe projects $12.9 billion for Black Friday and $6.9 billion for Thanksgiving Day, with $47.5 billion across the full Cyber 5.
Which retailers have announced their 2026 Black Friday dates?
As of Oct. 17, when we checked the corporate newsrooms of Walmart, Target, Best Buy and Amazon, none had published a full 2026 Black Friday event schedule. Best Buy has confirmed only the Nov. 27 date on its Black Friday page, and its Sept. 14 holiday preview says only that savings start in October.
That is not unusual. Retailers have tended to release these calendars in the last third of October or later, as the table below shows. We will update our coverage as official announcements land.

What did retailers do last year?
Last year’s schedules are the best guide to this year’s rhythm. Here is what each company announced for 2025, when Black Friday fell on Nov. 28.
| Retailer | 2025 announcement | 2025 Black Friday deals |
|---|---|---|
| Walmart | Oct. 27 | Event 1 Nov. 14 to 16; Event 2 Nov. 25 to 30; Cyber Monday online Dec. 1 |
| Best Buy | Oct. 20 (reported) | Weekly doorbusters from Oct. 31; Black Friday sale Nov. 20 to 29 |
| Amazon | Not dated on page | Black Friday Week from Nov. 20; Cyber Monday deals through Dec. 1 |
| Target | Oct. 30 (holiday plan); Nov. 20 (Black Friday details) | Early Black Friday sale Nov. 6 to 8; Black Friday deals Nov. 23 to 29; Cyber Monday event Nov. 30 to Dec. 1 |
Walmart’s Oct. 27, 2025, announcement set two Black Friday events and an online-only Cyber Monday, with early access for Walmart+ members the evening before each. Best Buy’s 2025 sale, reported by 9to5Toys on Oct. 20, 2025, ran Nov. 20 to 29, and its stores were closed on Thanksgiving while the website stayed open.
Amazon says its 2025 Black Friday Week started Nov. 20 and ran through Cyber Monday, Dec. 1. Target announced its holiday plan, including a Nov. 6 to 8 early Black Friday sale, on Oct. 30, 2025, and its Nov. 20 release put its Black Friday deals at Nov. 23 to 29, with stores opening at 6 a.m. on Black Friday.
The pattern: big deal weeks have started three to eight days before Black Friday, and Walmart and Target also held earlier events in early to mid-November. That pattern is not a promise for 2026, so treat any blog listing exact 2026 dates as a prediction until the retailer confirms it.
Before you buy
Run this quick check before any Black Friday purchase:
- Write down today’s price so you know the normal price.
- Confirm the exact model number matches the one you researched.
- Compare the total price, with shipping and tax, at two stores.
- Read the return window and price-adjustment terms.
- Check who is selling and shipping the item on marketplace sites.
Are Black Friday deals really the lowest prices of the year?
Often they are not. Which?, the U.K. consumer group, tracked 175 home, tech and health products at eight retailers, including Amazon, from May 2024 to May 2025. It found that 83% were the same price or cheaper on at least one occasion outside the four-week Black Friday sales window. When Which? looked at Black Friday itself, none of the deals were at their cheapest only on that day.
That study covers U.K. stores, not U.S. ones. Still, it is a useful reminder that a sale banner is a claim, not proof.
How can I tell if a “deal” is really a deal?
U.S. rules give you a starting point. The Federal Trade Commission’s guide on former price comparisons, 16 CFR 233.1, says a “was” price should be one the item was openly and actively offered at, for a reasonably substantial period of time. A crossed-out price that nobody charged for long is the kind of comparison the guide warns against.
You do not need to read regulations to protect yourself. These checks take a few minutes:
- Track the price now. Add items to a wish list or price tracker in October so you know the normal price before the sale.
- Match the model number. TVs and appliances often come in near-identical versions. Make sure the sale item is the same model you researched.
- Compare at least two stores on the same day, including shipping and tax.
- Read the price-match and return rules. Best Buy said in 2025 that most gifts bought Oct. 31 through Dec. 31 could be returned until Jan. 15, according to 9to5Toys. Check each store’s 2026 terms once they post.
- Set a ceiling. Decide what you would pay on a normal day, and only buy if the sale beats it.

Should I buy now or wait for Black Friday?
If the item is at a price you would be happy with and the store offers a price adjustment or easy returns, buying early can lock in the gift without the November scramble. If you have no price history and no return window, waiting a few weeks for the official calendars costs little.
Gifts that sell out, such as popular toys, are a different case. Availability can matter more than the last 10% off. For food and hosting gifts, our roundup of food gifts recipients actually repurchase is a good place to start.
Back at that kitchen table, the plan writes itself. Note the console’s price today, mark Nov. 27 and Nov. 30 on the calendar, watch for the retailer’s official dates, and buy when the number beats the one you wrote down.

Frequently asked questions
What date is Cyber Monday 2026?
Cyber Monday 2026 is Monday, Nov. 30, the Monday after Thanksgiving. Adobe's 2026 forecast expects it to be the biggest online shopping day of the season, at $15.1 billion in U.S. online sales.
Are stores open on Thanksgiving 2026?
Retailers had not posted 2026 Thanksgiving hours when we checked on Oct. 17. In 2025, Best Buy closed its stores on Thanksgiving while keeping its website open, so check each store's 2026 hours closer to Nov. 26.
When do Black Friday sales usually start?
In 2025, Best Buy's Black Friday sale and Amazon's Black Friday Week both began Nov. 20, about a week before Black Friday, and Walmart held its first event Nov. 14 to 16. Retailers set new dates each year, so confirm 2026 dates on their sites.
Is Black Friday or Cyber Monday better for deals?
It depends on the product and the store. A Which? study of U.K. retailers found that most tracked products were the same price or cheaper at some other point in the year, so price history matters more than the day's name.
What does a crossed-out "was" price mean?
It is the seller's claimed former price. FTC guidance says a former price should be one the item was openly and actively offered at for a reasonably substantial period, so compare it with the price history you can see yourself.
